WILDE LAKE VILLAGE BOARD MINUTES
June 6, 2022
CALL TO ORDER: A virtual Zoom meeting of the Wilde Lake Village Board was called to order by Kevin McAliley, Chair, on June 6, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. Members present were Kevin McAliley, Tina Horn,Vice Chair; Sagrario Ortiz, Chuck Yarbrough, Steve Campbell, Bill Santos, Columbia Council Rep; Susan Tucker, Wilde Lake CARES and Carl McKinney, Covenant Advisor. Dale Wasmus was also present, taking minutes.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Ms. Horn made a motion to approve the June 6, 2022 Agenda. Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion. All in favor.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Ms. Horn made a motion to approve the May 2, 2022 minutes. Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion. All in favor.
RESIDENT SPEAKOUT: No residents wanted to speak.
ORDER OF BUSINESS
Request for 15 Day Notice: 5641 Open Sky: Mr. McKinney stated that he had received a few complaints from neighbors about the condition of this property. The siding on the house is in poor condition and is badly warped and pulling away on the end wall next to the house on the right. Three letters have been sent but no response has been received from the property owner. Mr. Yarbrough made a motion to send the 15-day notice. Mr. Campbell seconded the motion. All in favor.
RAC Appointment: Mr. McKinney asked the WLVB to appoint Genie Wessel to serve as a back-up member of the RAC. She has served on the RAC for many years prior and would like to pursue other interests at this time. Ms. Horn made a motion to appoint Ms. Wessel as a back-up member to the RAC. Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion. All in favor.
Recommendation for Wilde Lake Representative to the Columbia Association Watershed Advisory Committee: Mr. McAliley asked Ms. Tucker to give an overview of what the Watershed Advisory Committee has been involved with. Ms. Horn made a motion to recommend Ms. Tucker to the Columbia Association Watershed Advisory Committee. Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion. All in favor.
Discussion: Wilde Lake App Proposal: Ms. Ortiz previously submitted a written proposal to the WLVB regarding developing an app for Wilde Lake. Mr. McAliley asked Ms. Ortiz to go over her proposal. Questions were asked from the other WLVB members and ideas were given.
REPORTS:
Wilde Lake Representative to the Columbia Association BOD: Mr. Santos advised Golf & Tennis is doing extremely well and unfortunately, the Athletic Club is not. The Sport & Fitness Advisory Committee will not require a board liaison to attend the meetings. At the last CA Board meeting, Ms. Deborah Lattimer from the organization Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, spoke about the organization to end gun violence and asked everyone to wear orange on June 3, 2022, National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Mr. Santos advised the Columbia Association lit up the Lakefront fountain orange.
COMMITTEES:
CARES: Ms. Tucker gave an update on what this committee has been doing.
Education: Ms. Horn attended the WLHS Graduation Ceremony and was thankful that the weather cooperated. She spoke about the Bryant Woods Community Quilting Bee. Schools are wrapping up. The next Community Circle Round Table will be held in September 2022.
Neighborhood Reps: Mr. Yarbough asked if Wilde Lake Community Association has a targeting map?
AC Liaison: Mr. Campbell previously submitted his written report. He did mention that a rare application for an in-home profession (piano instruction) has been received for the RAC’s next scheduled meeting on June 14.
Chair: Mr. McAliley advised the launch of the e-scooters went extremely well. He suggested that Wilde Lake Board Members take a ride on the scooters and are filmed while zipping around their neighborhoods. There are 13 different corrals and Blandair Park is the farthest scooter riders can go away from Wilde Lake Village.
Mr. McAliley called for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Ms. Horn made a motion to adjourn the meeting at approximately 8:00 p.m. Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion. All in favor.
