At Slayton House Theatre Camp of the Arts, our staff is dedicated not only to our summer program but to the theatre arts all year round. Meet our staff for 2018!
Rachael Strube (Camp Manager)-Miss Rachael has been with Slayton House Theatre Camp of the Arts for 5 years. She has 14 years of experience working with children of all ages and developing cultural arts programming. Rachael holds a degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where much of her research has focused on urban education and residency patterns in Baltimore. She is very excited to be back for another year at camp!
Lauren Blake Williams (Camp Director)-Miss Lauren is thrilled to be returning to Slayton House Camp of the Arts this summer! She received her Bachelor’s of Music in Musical Theatre Performance and Music Education from Catholic University’s Benjamin T. Rome School of Music in 2011. Miss. Lauren also holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education from The University of Maryland and is a teacher in the Howard County Public School System. See you this summer!
Laura Greffen (Camp Counselor)- Laura is currently the Howard High School Theatre Department teacher & director. She loves working with theatre students of all ages, and has also been involved in Howard County Summer Theatre Junior as an assistant director & choreographer since its beginning in 2006. She received her BA in English Education from Grove City College, and her M.A. In Theatre Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Laura is super excited to join Slayton House Theatre Arts Camp’s summer staff and work with a new community of student performers!
Cheryl J. Campo (Musical Director for Legally Blonde)- Miss Cheryl is looking forward to being back at Slayton House Camp of the Arts for another year. Having gotten her start in piano and dance at a young age, Cheryl was subsequently bit by the theatre bug in middle school and has since performed, choreographed, accompanied, musical directed, and directed in NJ, NY, CT, OH, and MD. Cheryl is a creative arts faculty member at Beth Tfiloh in Baltimore where she teaches middle school theatre, directs a middle school and high school choir, and musical directs their middle and high school musicals.
Chania Hudson (Camp Counselor)- Chania is beyond excited to spend her summer with Slayton House this year! She is currently a full-time student studying theatre at Howard Community College. Chania has 2 years of childcare experience, and 6+ years of theatre experience! She is excited to get to know everyone, and work on some AWESOME theatre this summer!
James Lefkowitz (Camp Counselor)- This is James’s first year with Camp of the Arts! A student at UMBC, he has been involved with both extracurricular and camp theatre for many years, as well as being a 5-year alumnus of Camp of the Arts. He is excited to work with the program and hopes to make a great entrance!
Kira Bennett (Camp Counselor)- Kira is a rising college sophomore that will be pursuing a degree in Psychology at Towson University in the fall. She adores Slayton House and has been here most of her life. She is so excited to work with the kids and hope to see everyone in the summer!
Victoria Barreira (Camp Counselor)-Victoria is returning to Slayton House Theatre Camp of the Arts as a counselor after attending the camp for 4 years throughout elementary school. She has 4 years of experience of working with kids ages 4-13. In addition, she is in her second year at Salisbury University for a bachelors degree in Psychology and minor in Art. She is ecstatic to begin working at Slayton House Theatre Camp of the Arts!
Nsikan Akpan (Camp Assistant)-Nsikan is a writer, actress, and future lawyer for black rights. This is her first year with Slayton House Theatre Camp of the Arts. She has experience working with children as a youth leader at Bridgeway Community Church. She is happy to continue working with children this summer.
Jacob Foster is a composer, actor, and pianist from the DC area. His work includes productions at the Olney Theatre Center, Adventure Theatre, and Howard Community College. He is a 2 time Helen Hayes Award nominee and a finalist in the Pallas Theatre Collective New Musicals competition. Let’s make some music!
